Social media is one such platform.

If you want to make money on social media make this your buzzword: give.

The more freely you give, the more easily you receive.

Prospering social media marketers apply this concept of giving freely. Naturally, they receive money fairly easily, because of their free giving.

Follow these tips to make money on social media.

1: Promote Other Folks

Promote *other* people freely on social media.

The more people you promote, the more friends you make on social media. The more friends you make on social media, the more people promote you. The more friends promote you, the more your income potential expands.

Give freely, receive easily.

Of course, legions of folks struggle like a fish flopping all over the sidewalk because they only look out for themselves on social media. If you focus on yourself, by only posting your links, how can you find other folks who are interested in your products and services?

If you focus on yourself, social media will be a lonely, frustrating endeavor for you. But if you promote other folks freely you will make friends who endorse you, promote you, hire you and buy your products and services.

2: Help People for Free

This one trips up most online entrepreneurs.

Most entrepreneurs try to make money on social media by only helping people who buy their stuff or hire them. This ass-backwards mistake leads to the high failure rate among bloggers and internet marketers in terms of earning a full time income.

How I did it: I helped people for free. Persistently. My free help expanded my presence online quickly, leveraging my brand, my blog and helping me to appear to be all over the place.

By being all over the place I built the foundation for my full time pro blogging career.

Help people for free on:

●    Niche specific Facebook Groups

●    Niche specific Google Plus Communities

●    Your social media profiles

Help people with your premium offerings and they will eventually pay for your premium offerings.

3: Stay on Topic

Stay on topic.

Establish your name in one niche.

Encourage your social media followers to expect a certain insight to flow through your accounts.

Profit accordingly through social media.

This is about building authority. Or, building your expertise in one niche.

Share updates predominantly about your niche of choice. I blog about how to build a successful blog. Most of my social media updates focus on this topic. Because I stay on topic most of the time my social media followings know what to expect, see me as a trusted authority in the blogging niche and buy my stuff or hire me.

Simple, right?

4: Don’t Fear Promoting Your Opportunity

I have made sales through social media by promoting my:

●    Blogging courses

●    eBooks

●    Audio books

●    Consulting services

●    Advertising opportunities

Do not believe the meme that you cannot promote your opportunity, your products or services through social media. This is not true. You can promote your wares. No problem.

One catch; promote sparingly.

For every time you post a link to your eBook on Amazon post 5-10 updates on social media related to blog posts or text-only updates offering free advice. Share free volume generously but then share your premium opportunity to make money through social media.
